What's happening to me?

I am a 48 year-old Male with Severe Asthma, and Hypotension- I take meds to get my BP up to, or a little higher than, 90/60, because it can drop to 70/40.
In mid August I was dizzy, got dizzier, then my left side went useless, and my low BP was something over/135. I was clammy, and my speech was labored to the point I could hardly get words out, or understand what was being asked or said to me- by the Dr. or the other woman, whose name I didn't know, and found out was my wife. I had a CT, MRI, and MRA, and they were "unremarkable."
I went to another Neurologist who didn't understand why an EEG, MRA of the neck, and MRV of the brain wasn't done- so she gave me scripts to get those tests done. She wanted me back in 3 weeks so I would have time to get the tests done, and she could put together all of the tests along with her exam, and was told no driving. Stroke is the Dr.’s specialty, and getting an appt. with her is hard- she has some office hours, but she also runs the county hospital stroke center. I’m still getting dizzy when I move around, still have headaches on the top of my head, and I can’t imagine going back to my classroom to stand, walk around, and bent over a desk to work with students individually. The stress is probably not a good thing right now either- I didn’t ask if I could go back to work because I figured she would say no. How long till the dizziness goes away? Should I be waiting for my appointment in another 8 days, or call the Dr. and tell her I need an answer about the dizziness?

Re: What's happening to me?

Dearctwith3:
Welcome to our group I am not a doctor but I doubt your specialist could tell you much until she gets the test results. I believe dizziness and low bp often go together. If you have had the testing done I would push to have those results sent to her asap so you can find some answers. in the meantime I doubt you could feel effective as a teacher with this elephant in the room. I used to teach many moons ago and it is a long day if you are feeling "off". Have you spoken with your school admin? While starting later is not ideal, I am sure arrangements can be made.
I wish you speedy answers to your problems and a quick recovery!
Blessings
Nancy

Re: What's happening to me?

Hello ctwith3
I am sorry for what your going through. It can be pretty scarry with not knowing and having to wait. It is good your having more tests done it is the only way to properly diagnos. I cant say I would return to work, you should be resting, lowering your stress and helping your body heal. If you can speed things up with your doctor then you should but chances are by the time she gets back to you its time for your appointment. Are you taking your B/P daily. That could be causing the dizziness but it also could be caused by the stroke if that is what you had. You need answers and I know waiting and having those empty hours just creates a ball of worry. Hang in there try very hard to rest and take care of yourself. Let us know how your doing.
God Bless Mulchie
