MY primary care doctor ordered a MRI with contrast of my brain because she thought I might have had a stroke , the nurse callled today and left a message saying that the arterial part came out clear, but they were waiting on the radiologist to interpet the MRI , does anybody know what arterial part means
I think maybe it means I did not have a stroke but they need to look at the brain itself ?
I am sorry, but I can't answer any of you questions I wish I could, but I would never post here something that I didn't feel something I felt a little about it. You hang in there and try not to worry. Worry is a waste of all of our time.
Hi dont ya just love it when they leave on the answering machine a "not so detailed message" and leave you to decode.
I researched and all I could find was it means the blood flow to the brain. So if the message was it was good than this must mean the blood flow to the brain of the brain is good. And that is good news. Sorry I dont know more. Keep us updated.

got my mri results yesterday and great news is i didn't have another stroke or tumor or anything bad, it did show some benign something or the other that had to do with my blood pressure, my doctors have been working for years trying to keep my pressure under control since the stroke that I had in 2002, I am on lisinopril/hci/25 ,so I go back next week to see how its doing,
I still have these issues with my cervical and lumbar spine that is causing numbness, tingling and severe pain , she (my gp) is sending me to an ENT to see why I still have the vertigo
people out there that think you have to have headaches for a stroke to happen, you are sadly mistaken, my first was caught on ct scan
thanks for your support

i had a stroke may 4th 2009. i was only 48 in good health. at 50 started having seizures. they cant tell me why . out of work cant drive scared to get far away from home. will pray for you.
sorry to hear that, my mother started having seizures at 63 , they did test after test and never found out why, she takes anti-seizure med but occasionally has a break through seizure. she lives alone and wears a device that will call 911 if she falls, that's a real bummer, just be careful ,thanks and bless you

thank you. they had me on meds first year after nothing happened. the first one was horrible im in the floor with paramedics coming in the door. i had no idea what had happened. i still have numbness in right hand and arm. bottem lip will get numb ive told them at drs office they tested me no results. i wish i knew why.
I can certainly relate to the blood pressure problems that seem to have no known cause. Mine eventually caused me to have 4 strokes at the same time, all over my brain. Finally,(after it was too late) I found the right doctor who threw away my entire medication regime that I had been on for years, and started completely over. It did work out to be a combination of 5 different medications, but finally I have beautiful blood pressure for the first time in my adult life.
Just keep going and keep searching. The doctor that finally helped me was my nephrologist, my kidney specialist. the strokes left me in kidney failure, but I am still not on dialysis, after 9 years.
So sorry about all the back problems and the rest...I sure know what it is like, and thankfully we have each other here to console and understand each other. I have found this place to be so helpful in keeping me sane.
well, at least you didn't give up, five huh? how long did that take to finally get something that worked, I haven't seen normal blood pressure in 20 years, hopefully this doc will get mine down since this is her specialty, 6 doctors later still trying, its always the top number for me averaging around 130/70ish, I make sure that I take my daily aspirin and adapted better eating habits although I could stand to lose about 30 lbs, I would like to know how often you have had these seizures , were you alone
thanks for your reply to my post
Well I gues I didn't reallly understand the nurse that gave me my test results, when I spoke to the doc on Weds ,she said that I have all the little spots on my brain that are little strokes because my BP was still too high, dhe upped my lisinpril to 2x per day 20mg the max than can be given in a day and I still take my baby asprin, about 6 doctors and 20 years and they still can't get it down to 120/80, its was reading 136/84 on Wed , today it was 126/78 and that's encouraging, so the doc says to not miss my meds since all of these strokes can cause me to have early dementia , anyone heard of this?
by the way all of my labs were good including cholesterol and sodium level(always good)
Your b/p is good now thats a relief. Have you thought about other ways to control your b/p. Also there is lots of research been done on omega 3 and brain food. Do some research on that. It might be a good idea. The more I research the more I realize the medication is only one very tiny part of the solution. There are so many other ways. Now maybe you have tried everything and I am talking out of turn. But I just thought I would take a chance and mention it. Keep in Touch

Thanks so much Mulchie for your support, well another development, yesterday morning got up went downstairs to seee the grandkids off to school,I picked up a magazine and looked at and the words looked blurry (large words) so I looked over to tell my daughter and I saw two of her ,so very calmly I told her I'am having double vision ,just so happened my daughter that is a nurse was there and looked at me and started accessing me for a a stroke ,the double vision went away almost as fast as it came ,so they took me to the ER on the way my heart was racing ,bloodpressure was 184/74 , they took me back fast and the doc comes in and asked me what happened and I opened my mouth but nothing would come out, so then they hooked up heart monitors ,oxygen and rushed me to brain ct ,chest xray, blood work urine ,everything comes out fine ,they gave me a prescription for xanax for panic/anxiety attack and told me to follow up with an optomalogist ,scariest thing ever, now I'am wondering if the double vision caused the panic attack or the panic attack caused the double vision , I have a lot of spine problem so maybe......... anyway I see my neuro today so I will ask for a referral to a opto ,I'am sure I will be busy for the next couple of weeks getting tests ,Thanks so much for everybodys support, hope this helps some people on the board
