Sensitive subject

I have a very sensitive subject to ask about, but I know I can count on getting some help through these message boards
My husband had a stroke in July of 2010, he spent 5 months at a care facility, and since December of 2010, he has been home, and doing OK..
When he first came home, he would tell me when he had to go to the bathroom, and ALWAYS when he had to have a bowel movement..that was never an issue...quite some time ago, he quit telling me when he had to urinate, it was hard to deal with, but I just accepted it, and moved on...all this time he was still telling me when he had to have a BM...now, for the past few weeks, he doesn't tell me any longer..he just goes, and I can deal with that, but what is hard to deal with is the fact that now he doesn't know he is going, or has gone..has this ever happened to anyone else, and if so, is there a solution, or is this just something else I will have to deal with, and hope for the best?
I know he gest frustrated by this problem, but it just seems like he has lost the "feeling" of when he has to go...
I would appreciate any words of encouragement, and help..

Re: Sensitive subject

Hi Donna
I am so sorry to hear about your hubby difficulties. You must be very confused wondering what is going on. Has the stroke caused a secondary illness? what do the doctors say are you having any luck getting answers out of them. I know sometimes that can be a challenge.
Im sure your confuse it does seem strange after all this time. Maybe another MRI should be done and see whats going on or extensive blood work to determine if something else has occured. My stroke was June 2010 very much the same time. I had some continued deteriation after my stroke. In fact the first 8 months were hard and some days I felt i was going backwards.
I am so sorry you and your husband are going through this. It makes the care givers job so much more demanding and difficult. My heart goes out to you. I will remember you both in my prayers. God Bless Mulchie
