Question New Girl - UK Anyone?

Hello All

I've been reading for a couple of weeks and see this is the place to be for so many reasons. Already I've learnt fifteen months into recovery that the tears and anxiety aren't just me going crazy, they are an after effect of the stroke. I get that no two people or strokes are the same, but wow, I've been missing out on a lot of information!

I am wondering, are there many people from the UK active in this forum? Don't get me wrong, it's just that the whole state benefit system works differently here and also things like employment rights and I would like to try and find people who are in a similar position to myself. With a brain injury sometimes it would be helpful if I didn't need to explain or try to work out the differences. On a more general level, this is probably the most comforting spot on the web, for support and genuine warmth.

Blessid Xx

Re: New Girl - UK Anyone?

Hello and welcome. Im so glad you found us. Yes we learn a lot from each other. My stroke was 22 months ago and I am still improving. Yes the emotions and depression is a common thread among us all here on the board. I felt the same as you a real comfort when I first came to the board. I felt like I had finally found someone who understood what I was going through. Im glad its the most comfortable place on the web for you. I found reading the posts and asking questions was very healing.
If your up for it please tell us more about yourself. How did the stroke effect your life and please ask any questions at all. there are many wonderful people here.
God Bless Mulchie

As far as insurance and benefit questions go, there is a separate board for that:
http://www.healthboards.com/boards/health-insurance-issues/
It will be a matter of seeing whose there and if you have any one that is from UK that can help you figure out the system there. Good luck. Please stay here for stroke questions/thoughts/discussions!
