Mom had stroke and need advice
My mom had a stroke almost 3 weeks ago. At the time of the stroke the paramedics said she didnt have one even though her entire left side was limp! My sister and I rushed her to the ER anyway, and she did have a stroke. It was a bleed from not taking the higher dosage of BP medicine her doctor recommended...Anyway, that same night I stayed with her at the hospital and she was able to move her left arm and leg, however, it was very uncontrolled movement. She has a lot of strength also in that side, its just the coordination factor. The doctor says she can regain 95% of what was lost, but doesnt know how long. Shes had no mental, or speech problems from this stroke.
Anyone lend any advice? I care for my mom daily,10 days later she was released from the hospital because she can walk with assistance. Are there certain exercises we should practice which can help condition her brain again? The PT gave us only one exercise to do and yet Ive been creating a lot of jobs for her to do with my 2 year old...Moving counting bears from one dish to another...threading large beads with her bad hand to the string in her good hand...
Thanks!
