my mother had a hemmorhagic stroke on January 22, 2001. This is all new and scary for all of especially her. i am hoping that there is some one out there who would be interested in answering some questions we have and possibly emailing my mother and discussing topics with her to set her at ease. It seems as though the more she sees her doctor, the worse she feels. We need some sunlight in our lives!!!

Hi Petie,

I will help if I can but first a little about myself.

I suffered a stroke on the 26/8/99. It was caused by an arterial clot, bilateral in that both sides of my body were affected. This was complicated with an intra cerebral bleed (haemorrage) between the cebellum and brain stem.

I was in a coma for 5 days, quadruplegic for 4 weeks, learnt to walk in 5 weeks. I have no known speech or memory problems, have regained my drivers license and returned to work part time. All this when I was not expected to live or at best not much better than a vegetable.

my mother had a hem stroke in may 94, she woke after a 3 month coma was paralyzed on the right side for an addtl 6 months, since she has relearned to walk and has regain most of her speech, her stroke was most likely caused by ppa and has greatly disturbed her life as she knew it. my best advice is for your mother to remain hopeful and positive not to dwell on what she lost or is struggling with but to be thankful for what she still has..

I'm not sure what kind off strokes my dad had but he has had 3 off them, it was years ago so I cant really remember what ones they were, but he is fine now, he had to use a walking stick for months he hasnt had anymore now and it has been years sinse he had them. so tell your mum to keep her chin up im sure she will be fine
