My nephew of 4 months was found yesterday not breathing after laying him down for a nap. daycare started CPR and called the ambulance. They got his heart started, and after an hour of breathing for him he started breathing on his own. His vessels in his brain are swollen. they said the next 24-48 hrs are critical for him. She called this morning and said that they did an EEG which showed no brain activity at this time. Will this come back after the swelling goes down or more than likely no?

Re: Nephew

if he is breathing on his own, by default there is activity in the brain stem which is a good sign. i sincerely hope things work out and good luck to you and your nephew.

Re: Nephew

I have no idea but your nephew is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope eveything turns out okay. I would think if he's breathing on his own it's a good sign.
