thought that you might be interested considering that it's very appropriate for your topic - there's a Swine Flu going around, and there are 40 reported cases in the U.S. I've been using a live map that tracks down reported cases ...by looking at it, it seems like most cases are from southern cali (near mexico) and the city area in New York.
as of right now China, Taiwan, and Russia are examining visitors using thermal scanners to see if their body temps are high due to flu symptoms.

Your right, the only flu or illness going around now, that's a cause for alarm is the Swine Flu.
According to research the swine flu is not any worst than the winter flu, you should avoid crowded areas, wash your hands frequently, and stay home if you feel sick. They have meds to treat symptoms if you think you have it, but the vacine will be released this fall for the Influenza A (H1N1)...
Hey all, so the swine flu thing has been huge all over the news the past few months. I tend to try not to believe the hype, as most of you said here it's just as common as any other flu. As of two days ago, my niece had 102 fever, and my sis took her to the doc. The doc said she "probably" has the swine flu, but his basis for that is stupid to me. He says because it's not the flu season and the swine is going around, he's just assuming it is. To me that says he's not going to send it for proper testing, which annoys/worries me. Should I be concerned about that? Also, he suggest their whole family, as well as myself and my mother go on the TamiFlu as a preventative measure. We have all been in contact with my niece in the last few days. I started my first pill yesterday, and will take it for 5 days, twice a day as directed. I don't feel sick at all, my throat is a bit scratchy but that is always the case with me, post nasal drip, allergies, etc.
My concern is that I kind of feel like a time bomb, am I contagious already without being sick myself? Will I still get sick with the preventative meds, and if so, then what?? Should I be out and about, at work, etc? And of course, I'm worried about my niece in all this too, but my Mom says the doc said it's a mild case and she is feeling better already. I am trying to take it in stride, but I Just overheard a co-worker on the phone and she was "oh my god-ing" all over the place, and I heard her say, virus, second opinion, etc. a few times. So not that I was eavesdropping, but it seems to me she knows someone who's been diagnosed too.
I jusr got over the flu and was tested for swine flu and it was just the flu. They didn't tell me what kind. but they said they do 12-15 swabs a day and only had 1 positive for swime flu and that was 2 months ago.
people need to calm down about the swine flu
