| Re: Lupus and Swine flu?
we are in NY, the school has decided to stay open. They never contacted parents, but put notice on their web site:
Dear Parents/Guardians,
On Tuesday, May 26, 2009, the District was notified by the Suffolk County Department of Health of one confirmed case of H1N1 Influenza A Virus at Robert Moses Middle School. The child will remain home until school officials receive medical clearance. In all confirmed cases, the District will require medical clearance before a student is permitted to return to school.
According to the Suffolk County Department of Health guidelines, exposure to a probable or confirmed case of H1N1 Influenza A Virus is not an indicator or reason, by itself, to see a doctor or visit an emergency room. Children who exhibit fever and/or flu-like symptoms must be kept home from school. We strongly encourage you to take them to the doctor at the onset of the symptoms.
The Suffolk County Department of Health has recommended that no schools be closed at this time. This recommendation is consistent with new guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, based on the latest information indicating that most U.S. cases of the virus are comparable in severity to seasonal influenza.
If you have any questions, please contact the Suffolk County Department of Health at 631-853-3055 or the New York State Health Department at 1-800-808-1987 or the following websites: www.nyhealth.gov, www.schoolhealthservicesny.com or www.cdc.gov. Updates on H1N1 cases in the North Babylon School District will be posted on the District website at www.northbabylonschools.net on a regular basis.
The health of our students and staff members is of paramount importance. School and local health officials are working together to monitor the situation and keep you informed.
Sincerely,
Robert Aloise, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
My daughter goes to the school, but she was a premie and has asthma, Cerebral Palsy. We kept her home today, not that it will do any good since they are not even cleaning the school.
Thanks for the help.
