Our whole family got the swine flu vaccine this past week. My husband came down with a cough the day after his shot. He has diabetes. He went to the doctors and the doctor believes he picked up a virus right before his shot so he is fighting two things a cold and the shot. He then gave my husband a H1N1 test and it came back negative. Are these test accurate? This sickness started Friday and he just had a 100 degree fever. He is on antibiotics. So now it is the next day - he seems to be better but still has a 99 degree temperature. My daughter started to get the same exact sypmtoms with a 100 degree fever. She also had the shot but got hers on Tuesday. I know my niece has had these same sypmtoms and got over it in 3 days. We never hang around her though so this must be something going around beside the swine flu.
The rapid swab is not very accurate -- high rate of FALSE negatives. More and more stories about people, including DH, who get the test, told it's just a virus and find out they do in fact have H1N1
We all went to the doctors. Each doctor said this is most likely not H1N1 but I tell you one thing I have never seen a fever like this and coughing. This virus went straight for the chest and we still have fevers on Day 3. My son went up to 103 degrees the other night. My husband is still tired on Day 5. If this is not swine flu, I would hate to see the real thing.
