Hi I suffer from adrenal fatigue and chronic pain. I had my H1N1 shot three weeks ago and have had a lot of weakness, pain, and other nasty symptoms that no one else I know personally experienced from the vaccination. My naturopath now has me on all sorts of homeopathic things to help clear my system and I almost feel worse. Anyone else out there have a similar experience?
I go the the Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia center here in the Detroit area. I was told that people with fatigue issues have had devastating effects from the vaccine. You should look into IV therapy with Vitamin C. Or make the trip to one of the centers. Also, I would suggest reporting this to the CDC. Good luck to you!
I have multiple scerlosis, and have chronic fatigue issues of my own. Im also working in healthcare and taking interferons for my MS....I got the vaccine, the killed one, the shot, NOT the inhalent...
I suffered NO problems at all; from either the H1N1, or the regular seasonal shot which i got 2 weeks prior...
no side effects whatsover and so far, havent gotten the flu. Its been 3 weeks since my vaccine...
Hi Dawnsdays: Thanks for your reply - I thought I was going nuts - its hard to have anyone take you seriously with adrenal fatigue, but I was so hard hit with the flu vaccine I thought it had to be something someone else had experienced. My immune system went haywire and I had flu symptons (which I reported locally to the Health Region authorities) and an eye infection as well as other nasty things and increased back pain. I am starting to feel better but am hit with really bad fatigue again... like when I was first diagnosed with adrenal fatigue - have to sleep most of the day or lie down in between getting up to fix meals, etc. Anyway, thanks for your help. I feel less alone.
Hi Safran, yes it is hard to find anyone who takes you seriously with adrenal fatigue. I also have it. It took me 2 yrs. of going to regular doctors and no one could help. They all say you're blood work is normal. And also try to push anxiety meds on me. I finally found the chronic fatigue center and the doctor there has been studying this for 15 years. She said it is a problem that goes into the mitochondria part of the cell. Two of the most important things you can do is take a highly absorbable multivitamin (like UltraCeuticals) and high quality fish oil. She said the fish oil brings oxygen into the cell and is also a natural anti-inflammatory (good for pain). < edited > I'm interested in knowing what your naturopath is doing for you. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hello Dawnsdays: Thank you for writing to me about Adrenal Fatigue. I am interested in your treatment too - especially that you are at the chronic fatigue center in Detroit and you have a doctor caring for you. I have been a vegetarian for about 12 years and its interesting that you say Fish Oil is recommended - my husband came home with it about 10 days ago and insisted that I take it so I have started. I also take a multi and numerous other supplements. My doctor upped my Vit. C to 2,000 units a day, and has me taking a probiotic everyday, and GLA and EFA everyday. I also take 3,000 units of Vit D, CoEnzyme Q10 and Alpha Lipoic Acid.
My naturopath diagnosed me through a hormone screening test (saliva) - I had very low DHEA levels and my progesterone was low too. I also had the symptom of weirdly dialating eyes and low blood pressure on rising as well as complete and overwhelming fatigue. I am now on progesterone cream (Bio Identical) and he has me taking a supplement of 1.5mcg of melatonin at bedtime every night and I have to go to bed by 10:30pm in a completely dark room every night (this is impossible to do in my house - my husband reads in bed but uses a tiny light). I tried the bovine adrenal complex last spring but it made me worse - my naturopath said it was because it pushed my adrenals too hard. I was also told to stop taking hot baths, to use water filters on my drinking water and bathing/showering water to get rid of chlorine (that is very toxic to the adrenals).
I have been on various homeopathic remedies for months and honestly don't know if they are helping or not. Right now I am taking Unda drops for thyroid and adrenal health on alternate days and another Unda product called Chalidonium Plex. I am better than I was last spring - my blood pressure is better somewhat and my eyes dialate better now too but I am still exhausted constantly.
I find the complete exhaustion very wearing - and with the pain sometimes I really feel like enough already - I want my life back.
People just don't understand what its like - I get the feeling they think I am a hypochondriac and neurotic - after all they had back pain once too and they didn't spend years complaining... etc, etc.
I'd like to know more about you and what treatments you are receiving - is your doctor a specialist in this field? And thanks for being there... I appreciate having someone to talk to about this condition.
Hi Dawnsdays: I was told it would take one to two years to improve. Is this what you have been told?
I would like to know more about how you are being treated in Detroit... what your doctor has you taking and doing? You say your doctor has been in this field of medicine for 15 years - you are very lucky to have someone like that. My GP is still ignoring my health issues. Thanks for writing to me about all of this. I appreciate hearing from you.
Hi Safron, I actually am just starting treatment at the chronic fatigue center. It is supposed to take 1 yr. to start feeling better. They are gonna start me on Vitamin C IV therapy 10,000 mg. with lidocaine (for pain). They make there own concoctions according to your personal issues. At the center they test you to see if this was brought on by an underlying viral issue or not. If it was brought about by a virus then they treat you aggressively to rid your body of the virus first. Vitamin B5 is the MOST important vitamin for your adrenals to repair themselves. It is pantethine. You can not get this at a regular drug store. You have to go to a vitamin shop or order online. 1500 mg. a day is needed. I take mine at 9, 12, and 4 o'clock. It will give you energy back within a couple of weeks. You may crash a little at first so you might want to start out slowly with one a day, then 2 and work up to 3. Also, definitely stay on the vitamin c. I was told to snack on almonds and avoid bananas for now. And the fish oil is very important. You really should order a big bottle of Carlson's liquid fish oil, lemon flavor. I found the cheapest place to get it is on The Vitamin Shoppe website. You will need to take 2 tablespoons a day with food. Make sure you take it with enough food or you may feel a little nauseous. 2 tablespoons of liquid is equal to 10-12 capsules. That's why I was told to take liquid. It is more economical for as much as you need to take. I'm not sure about all the other things you are on. These things were not recommeded to me. I am feeling better already. The b5 and c are restoring my energy quite well. I do know that GP's don't know hardly anything about this. You have to find someone who specializes in this problem. I wasted soooo much money jumping around from doctor to doctor trying to get help. It really is sad. All the doctors want to do is tell you to take motrin for pain, anti anxiety meds, or anti depressants. I'm not even depressed. UGH!!!!!! Thank God I found this center. There are some specialist out there. Just keep searching.
Hello Dawnsdays: Sorry it took me so long to reply to you - I've been tired (no surprise) and things just got busy. I really appreciate that you wrote back to me with so much information. I read up on B5 and sure enough its essential for the adrenals - in all the reading I did on Adrenal Fatigue I never came across it before! I am up to 600mgs a day of B5 and thought I would slowly build up (I get 100 from a B pill - includes all the B's; and then I have 500 mg tablets of B5 to take). I am also trying to build up to more Vit C as you suggest. I haven't been offered iv C, but I am taking about 3000units of C now a day. The fish oil pills really bother me and my husband - I don't know if its because we are vegetarian and our bodies don't digest it well or if its because he bought a yucky kind. I cannot imagine taking 2 tablespoons a day - I would vomit, but maybe the liquid isn't so bad???? I will look for Carlson's and see if I can find it here. Do you take all the oil at once or do you space it out during the day?
Have you been told to alter your diet in any way besides not eating bananas? Its funny because my doctor told me that if I wake up in the middle of the night to eat a banana in the dark in bed to get my blood sugar back in the night. But in a book I just read on Adrenal Fatigue they also said to avoid bananas - and I love them... I guess I will have to wake up in the middle of the night to enjoy them!
I am so tired of being tired I will do anything to get better. I cut out all caffein this week (I was having one small cup of instant coffee a day) and now no chocolate and I have cut out sugar - even though I hardly eat any anyway. In the book it also says to cut out all high glycemic index foods - that's why I was wondering if they told you to change your diet too?
Thanks for the help Dawnsday. I am thinking I should post next time on the Adrenals board. Bye for now.
Hi Safron, I usually take my 2 tablespoons right before I eat dinner, all at once. Then I eat alot of my meal so it mixes with the food. It tastes like a slight lemon flavor. I like to take it and then swallow orange juice to rinse it down. My kids even take it. My 3 yr. old always wants more. So it really isn't that bad and it is essential for bringing oxygen into the mitochondria of the cell. Also for reducing inflammation (which will take away alot of pain). Force yourself if you have to. The diet advice I was given was to stay away from bananas for now and also to avoid sugar. She said sugar feeds illness, sugar feeds cancer, and sugar will make your symptoms worse. This includes anything made from white flour (which turns to sugar). The clinic that I go to says they treat people who are so bad they can't even walk. Within months they are up and walking again feeling 80% better. Keep on searching for anyone who specializes in this sort of thing. My clinic has people who fly in from all around, just to go there for treatment. Also, they give you injections to take home with you, which means less trips!
The doctor says these vitamins from ultracueticals are the most potent and readily absorbed vitamins you can get. I'm on the multivitamin for now. Talk to ya soon.
