My friends 7 year old daughter received the nasal mist H1N1 vaccine a week ago and is now experiencing mild seizures. They began about 24 hours ago with some minor eye rolling with an associated head pull towards the same side. In the last 12 hours they have increased in frequency. She has no history of seizures and was fever free during these events.

She is undergoing a complete workup today (CT Scan, EEG, MRI).

Does anyone know of similar side effects from this vaccine? I have searched the National Vaccine Data Base but have found very little and feel the vaccine is so new that the info may yet to have filtered in.

Dear gbcontrol,

My 3 year old niece has been experiencing seizures since November when she had the H1N1 vaccine. Similar to your 7 year old daughter, my niece had no previous history of seizures, which have increased in frequency over the past week.

For the past two days, she has been having multiple seizures. Her MRI came back fine. According to her doctors, the MRI does not show that the seizures have had any impacts on her brain. On one hand this is encouraging news, yet, the seizures persist.

my father was a healthy 78 year old. He got the swine flu shot and 2 weeks later while playing golf all of a sudden he started getting spasms down his right arm-like electric shocks. He gets them about every 15 minutes. He went to hospital for 3 weeks. They did every test and still can't find out what's wrong. This has been going on for 3 months now. When he gets the spasms he loses his balance and his mind wonders for a minute or so and he says strange things. We have taken him to UM and they couldn't find out what's wrong. It's really starting to effect his mind. But drs say it's not the brain. MRI didn't show any brain waves when he had the spasms. It is so frustrating. They say the swine flu shot didn't cause this. We've been to three nuerologists and still no one can figure it out. drs don't know if these are actual spasms or seizures. But we really think it was caused by shot since no dr can explain what it is

My daughter started having seizures 24 hours after she had the vaccine she never had any medical problems before the vaccine she continued having seizures on a almost daily basis for the next two months hopefully your friends child will not have them this long, nothing showed on her MRI or CAT scan to give any reason for the seizures
