Post is it unprofessional??

Say a student has found a teacher that they talk to a lot and confide in. A family member of the student died and the student has to go to the funeral. The student wants to ask the teacher if the teacher can call them on the phone after the funeral, just to talk. They have talked in school before, but would it be any different if they talked on the phone? would it be "unprofessional" if the teacher agreed to call the student? it would only be one time because the student is going through a tough time, considering they just lost a family member.

It might be kinda weird, but if the student and teacher are comfortable talking, than I don't see a problem with it. Just make sure that school is the main focus at school, and the situation between the student and the teacher does not effect that. (Meaning, the student is not to have more privelages, can get away with things easier, etc.)

Cool

Hi,

Sorry to hear of your loss, Nope theres nothing wrong with that it's not unprofessionally at all. Actually i have that relationship with my tutor she's really supportive, understanding and great to confide in. She treats me just the same as the other students!
