Unhappy High School Prom

My high school prom is coming up in about 2 months and I don't know if I should go or not. Obviously, I would love to go, but have a few things holding me back. My main problem is getting a date. I know this may make me sound like a bad person, but I want to keep my reputation. Now, I hang out with the "more popular" kids at school who date the more attractive girls so it's hard for me to get a date because I'm not as attractive as them, especially since I have acne which has caused some scarring. And so if I take someone who in their eyes (my friends' eyes) is not attractive, they may give me a hard time. I don't know what to do. I want to go, but acne is keeping me from getting a date, which is keeping me from going. Someone please help me out. Thanks.

hey andrew. image is important in high school, and i can relate. proms aren't all that important, so if your image really is that important to you, don't feel pressured into going. however, if you really want to go, you should just get over worrying about what your friends will think and take someone. whatever happens, best of luck to you.

can i say something. i know exactly what u r saying and i can also relate but i have found out that know matter your rep. u r not being you and personally i wouldnt like u as a friend cuz your not being true to yourself or your friends. relax im not makig fun of or putting you down but be true and dont wear a mask to the people around you. be yourself and it will workout in the future. choices u make know we come back to u in greater quanities if u are true.

are you a senior? cause i am, and i have just decided to do whatever i want b/c, if i embarrass myself, i dont ever have to talk to these people again, and if i get lucky, then i can talk to them for the rest of my life. i am a girl (you could probably figure that out from my name) and i went single to my prom (it was just last night!), and i had a blast!!! i could talk to plenty of people, and having a date was definately not a big deal at my school. however, i did ask a GUY to come with me, but he didnt' really want to go...and you know what?? i found out from a mutual friend at prom that he wanted to go with me, but he thought it would be too awkward to ask me to go!!! point is, if you have a certain girl in mind, ask her! and don't worry about your imperfections...acne scars won't cover a sweet personality...i know this sounds terribly cliche, but if your friends are that focused on such superficial stuff, then are they really your friends??? i had a bunch of friends that were REALLY mean to me my sophomore year, and i roomed with them on a trip, and i basically walked by myself behind them the whole way...they wondered what was wrong...i told them, and got quite lippy...i "broke up" with those nasty people, and now i have a completely new circle of friends who care for me and respect me, and i have even had a mini-romance (with that guy who was scared to ask me to prom) since them...just go with your gut feeling...even if you have to change friends! you'll feel so much better afterwards!
