I've liked this guy for a year, and I could never get him to notice me... I would never talk to him because I was too shy (although I'm not shy around my friends). Then, before summer, I just started saying an occasional "hi" to him whenever I'd see him and those "hi's" eventually turned into 30 second conversations, and now, we hang out almost everyday.
I think the first step for a guy to notice to you is to talk to him; it doesn't have to be about anything too deep... a movie, a class, music, etc. I think one of the most important things is to be yourself (I know you've probably heard that a million times, but its true!) and smile (corny, but it works)!
