Exclamation plz explain ur school system

hiya
i am from england and was wondering if some one cud explain ur school system like this
what year are you in when you are about
11
12
13
14
15
16
17
18

in england its different depending on where you live, is it the same in america + canda + any other countries

when do children start school, in uk usually 3but dont have to til your 4

Ok in the USA it goes like this:

below 6 years old is pre-school

6 years old are in 1st grade
7 years old are in 2nd grade elementary school
8 years old are in 3rd grade
9 years old are in 4th grade
10 years old are in 5th grade

11 years old are in 6th grade
12 years old are in 7th grade middle school
13 years old are in 8th grade

14 years old are in 9th grade
15 years old are in 10th grade
16 years old are in 11th grade high school
17 years old are in 12th grade

thanx, i went to school in gateshead and county durham in england,
so i went 2 nursery @ 3
infant school at 4
4/5 reception
5/6 year 1
6/7 year 2

7/8 year 3 Started junior school
8/9 years 4
9/10 year 5
10/11 year 6

11/12 year seven Started Comprehensive school
12/13 year 8
13/14 year 9 you do exams called sats in this year
14/15 year 10
15/16 year 11 you do GCSE's and hav the option 2 leave and go to college or stay and do sixth form

sixth form ~ not compulsory
16/17 year 12 ~ as levels
17/18 year 13 a levels

your life is your own well u can go on to college + train a articualr area ,
go 2 university and do a degree etc
go 2 work

I just wanted to point out something about what bojanglydave14 said. Actually, 5 years old is when you go to kindergarten and pre-school is before that, but you don't have to go. (At least not that I know of!)

Whoa..I just got out of 9th and I diddn't take no tests...you sure thats only your state or whatnot?

I am in England also,
you don't have to start school at 3, the only time you have to start school is 5. I think.

you start nurseery at three, not compulsory but gives a good head start,

In the UK compulsory education begins at five years of age. Increasingly though, parents have been sending their children to school younger and younger. Reception classes at Primary schools take children at four years of age, Nursery schools take them at three and there are playgroups for them at two!

i am traing to be a nursery nurse here in the uk , and through my limited traing i have found that those that start education at 4 by five have a good grasp of basic english maths and writing skill,
