It would be a bad idea to pierce your navel before going on vacation. Firstly, navel piercings take a very long time to heal...up to 6 months, and sometimes longer. Also, during that healing time, it can look pretty unattractive.....red, swollen and crusty. Also, exposing the new piercing to sun, sand, etc. is not a good idea, and swimming in the dirty ocean could expose the piercing to infection. I have had mine pierced for 12 years, and I still remember vividly what a pain it was waiting for it to heal, and how long it took.....If I were you, if you really want it done, wait until you get back.
