I just moved from the midwest to a beach area. I live a block away from the beach, I see tons of hot girls and stuff I'd love to be friends with, but I'm not the most social person. I also live in the South now, and have a "yankee" voice, atitude, and all that jazz... give me some help here!
Best things to gain friends or meet people would be to hang down at the beach as often as you can. You may not be the social type but nod you head to people you see. Nodding is a form of saying "hi" which could open a conversation up. Pening on you age but you could get a job and then you will have to interact with these females.
omg...I know how u feel...I just moved and if I wanna make friends its really hard for me now coz I just don't talk at all...So TRY talking more...my cuzin is unbelievably outgoing and confident and can talk to anyone...she just smiles and says hi to anyone that walks by...
ahh yes, finally someone i can relate to, Well, I just moved from WA to CA and it was really hard, i lived in WA most of my life and lost all my best friends, I know exactly how you feel, but truth is, its great, its a perfect chance to start fresh. The first year is ALWAYS the hardest, do not get let down if u dont have many friends the first year, this is my second year living up here and I get so much attention its crazy, just dont try to attract it, and dont try to deny it, if you know what I mean, just be really nice to everyone and ull do fine.
PS: flirting helps just be VERY generous
Hope this helps.

Hehe, I'm moving to Connecticut next year and I'm totally nervous 'cause I haven't changed schools/changed my atmosphere since 4th grade... But it's simple, just be yourself, and if they like you, great!
