Post Blue nail beds.... I'm not cold

I had my thyroid removed in Novemeber, and was taking 125mcg of Levoxyl. I'm now on Cytomel awaiting RAI in April. A few weeks ago I noticed my nail beds were blue, at the time I was cold, so I didn't think anything of it. They have remained blue for 2 weeks, even when I'm very warm. Is this caused by the thyroid? The last TSH I had was Feb 2, and it was .03, very Hyper. I'm sure it's gone down by now. If any of you know what causes this please explain. Thanks, Aimee

Hi Aimee
You said they still are blue, but are your fingers cold and numb? I have Raynauds and have that problem all the time. I am in my office right now and my fingers are frozen, been inside for an hour too.

They've been cold lately, but not all the time. right now they're cold, but I am not. What is Raynauds? Is it just someting you deal with, or does it mean something else is wrong? Does your thyroid affect it? Thanks for any info.

Aimee,
It isn't treatable by drugs, you just have to dress for the cold. Even with gloves, my fingers freeze. It is a disease that sometimes go hand in hand with other autoimmune diseases. Toes have the same problem as the fingers too.

I've been noticing my hand all day, and even when they're sweating(being under a blanket)my finger tips are cold. I never noticed this until I started all this thyroid mess. I'm hoping that when my meds get regualted again that this will go away. Next time I see the Dr. I will mention it. Thanks for the reply!!

Hi Aimee. I have an older brother, hes 37, who has this similar probelm. He was told it was just plain bad circulation but I think its the same thing that Bellajoon has, Raynauds. It seems no matter what my brother does to keep his hands, feet at times also, warm in the cold weather his hands get a kinda white looking appearance and his nail beds stay blue for weeks at a time. I can tell you that if your hands do get very cold dont try to warm them up to fast, it will hurt like crazy. Good luck at ur next Dr visit, hopefully they can shed some light on it for you.
