Question Meep, or anyone, question on meds

I was taking .075 levoxyl. Switched to 60 mg. Armour, of which I am only taking half until worked up.

Can I take 1/2 the armour AND 1/2 the levoxyl? Not at the same time but one in AM and one in afternoon? Just curious what might happen...thanks!

You can, and actually, that is what I would PREFER to do. You know, I take 90mg Armour and 100mcg Unithroid. I believe that the mix more closely approximates what a healthy thyroid gland woudl do than taking either alone.

There are others who would beg to differ, and your doctor is probably one of them. Keep your doc in the loop whatever you choose to do.

Thanks Meep.

I think I will trial and error on taking levoxyl in afternoon AND the armour in AM.

As far as keeping doc in loop, she said whatever I do just make sure that I am on it for a consecutive 6 weeks for labwork to get a better picture. What do you think...I guess I might be on my own???

My plan would be to take the Levoxyl and half of the Armour in the morning and the other half of the Armour in the afternoon. The T3 in the Armour works better for many when split up like that. The T4 in the Levoxyl (and in the Armour, for that matter) has such a long half-life that it doesn't matter when you take it, but probably easier in the morning.

It sounds like your doc is pretty open-minded. you are quite lucky. My doc works with me the same way.

Thanks again Meep!

As far as the 60 mg Armour: I was only planning to take 30 mg all day. Should I take both the 30 mg AND levoxyl in the am? Doc said that if I take both together (60 mg and levoxyl) I will definitely become hyperT. But I think my body needs the levoxyl. And at least the T3 in armour.

I had been having palps with armour only (Total 60 mg). I don't like that feeling. I also have been having stiff joints in AM with armour only. I actually switched one day back to levoxyl and felt better...with aches.

Any suggestions as to make it work...slowly?

Thanks
