 anyone had or know about subacute thyroiditis
Prajapoti sent me a response to one of my other posts and told me about something called subacute thyroiditis. I had never heard of it before.
Apparently, after a viral (upper respiratory) infection, one's antibodies can turn against the thyroid and the thyroid literally dumps all of it's thyroid stores into the body - so you experience a period of extreme hyperthyroidism before then returning to a level of hypo again. This could explain what just happened to me over the past few months.
Has anyone else ever experienced this and if so, what were your symptoms and how did you recover? I am thrilled to think this might be the mystery that no one else has been able to diagnose me for.
Any good sources (books or websites) on this occurence that someone knows of?
