Question Test results, please help.

Hi,

I just received my test results and everything came out "normal". From reading the posts, you can have normal results and stll be hyper/hypo. Could someone please take a look and give me any feedback?

TSH 1.49 (.4-5.5)
T4, Free 1.5 (.8-1.8)
T4, Total 10.3 (4.5-12)
T3 uptake 30.2 (27.8-40.7%)
T4, Free, Calculated 3.11 (1.53-3.85)

Since my results came out "normal", my doctor said there's no need to see her anymore. And that some of my symptoms may be from lack of sleep or stress. I get enough sleep and I do have some stress but I've had these symptoms for a few years now. What's a girl to do!?

Jenna, I have to agree with your doctor that your results don't indicate a thyroid problems at this point. Many of us wuth thyroid problems wish our labs would come out like yours. They aren't just "normal", but they are where even the most agressive doctors consider to be optimal.

That's not to say that you won't develop a thyroid problem in the future, but right now, you look great in that respect.

There are other disorders that have symptoms similar to hypothyroidism, Here are a few to hopefully give you some direction and get the source of your symptoms sorted out: anemia (iron deficiency), pernicious anemia (vitamin B12 deficiency), Adrenal fatigue, and mercury poisoning.

Jenna,

Have you researched CFIDS to see if you fit that diagnosis?

If you continue to believe that your symptoms are similar to that of Thyroid maybe request an antibody test as well as an ultrasound. I have "normal" test results but have tested positive for antibodies and the ultrasound found a nodule which was detected in the physical exam. Just another thought to consider in your journey to understand your health.

I have to ditto this. I had very good labs, but an antibodies test and ultrasound, which were not done, would have nailed both my thyroid problems a year before they were finally found. And they were no small thing! But Meep is right about your labs! They look ideal. I am jealous! Good luck!

Jenna, I have Fibromyalgia, (FM) and the symptoms of that are very similar to hypothyroidism. You didn't list your symptoms, what are they?

Thanks everyone for your response. I'll definitely look into all the stuff you suggested.

As for my symptoms... here they go:

brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, low motivation, heat/cold intolerance, headaches, irritability, decreased memory and concentration, low sex drive, insomnia, acne, irregular period
