Post Menstruation cycles and thryoid levels

Hello..just a quick question. I believe that my thyroid levels are out of wack due to a gioter that I will have biopsied in two weeks. I also have been very regular with my monthly cycle until this month..I started my cycle on day 22 and just got back for the ER because of excessive bleeding after 4 days. They put me on estrogen to ease the bleeding. Could the two, thyroid and messed up cycle be related?

When I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism I had been having irregular periods. It was then discovered that I was in menopause too at the age of 41. Three years later I am post menopause. So I would say that there is a connection between the two.

This is from the book "The Thyroid Solution":
A thyroid hormone imbalance frequently causes either heavy periods or brief scanty periods.

There are thyroid hormone receptors on the ovaries. If the ovaries don't see enough thyroid homone, they in turn adjust their hormone levels, throwing your menstrual cycle off.

I am not a doctor, nor have I ever played one on TV...
