i am 20 yrs old and in april i was having bad panic and anxiety attacks. it wasnt till my last checkup that my new doctor thinks that maybe i am having thyroid problems because i now have low blood pressure, extreme fatigue and i gained 5 pounds since my last visit. i havent had my blood work done yet...should i go??
If you have a doctor who is willing to consider it at your age, be thankful and, by all means, have the testing done. If I had been fortunate enough to have a doctor with that much insight, I probably would have been spared a lot of ill health. It took doubling the size of my thyroid for anyone to even agree to test me. Better to start treatment before you get worse, if your thyroid is responsible for your problems.
YES YOU GO!! I had the same, identical situation back in the early 90's. I had suffered from hypothyroidism through most of the 80's, but wasn't aware enough to see a doctor, then I crashed BIG TIME in the 90's, panic attacks, anxiety, fatigue, depression, etc... I went to ER one night, thinking I was having a heart attack and the Dr. said right away I probably had a thyroid problem. He was right!

Yes, have it checked, then if all is o.k. you have at least ruled that out.
Just be sure that your doc does a FULL thyroid panel that includes T4 free, T3 free and thyroid antibodies (you may need to request these be done), if he does only the standard tests they can be normal but you can still have a thyroid problem if you have abnormal T4 free, T3 free or if antibodies are present.

i want to thank all of you guys for all the info and easing my mind. i was so afraid of the blood work coming back and it being something worse. i have problems with going too deep on the computer to analyze a simple cough. i feel like i am reading too much into things that happen all the time to tons of people not just myself.thank you all!!
