Question Just diagnosed hypo, tsh 98

Hello

My TSH is 98 and Free T4 is 5. I have been on thyroxine 50mg for 12 days.

Has anyone had readings like this and how long till you felt better?

Thanks

Wow, your definetly hypo.

Your meds will take 4-6 weeks to take full effect.

Welcome,
I have heard of people with very high TSH's, so that is not unusual. Mine was not near that high and I felt terrible.
Since it is so high it may take quite a while to feel better, generally 4 to 6 weeks for meds to really kick in, this doesn't mean you will feel great in 4 to 6 weeks, this means you will notice a decrease in your symptoms, you are on the road to feeling better, don't get discouraged if it takes a while.

Good luck

About two years ago I went to the doctors with a bad cold and he did blood work. My TSH was over 100......I didn't have any symptoms at all of being hypo..He monitored my thyroid with blood work every couple of months and it went down to around 5 on it's own. He attributed it to an infection that has settled in my thyroid at the time of my inital blood test.
The last time i had my thyroid checked was 6 months agon and it was 7 and my dr. told me that is normal for me. Again I have no symptoms of being hypo and feel perfectly fine.bride527
