Post Is one hour before eating a meal long enough?

I have been reading some posts on this board and now wonder if 1 hour before eating a meal is long enough to get the full value of my meds? I take Armour and Cytomel.
Any information will be helpful.
Thanks, Karen

I have the problem that I don't have the time to take my meds before I eat. and all the bottles say take 1 hour before or 2 hours after.
So I asked the doctor and he said as long as I'm always taking them with my meal it would be fine that the dose may just have to be a little higher than if I took the meds on an empty stomach. But he said to make sure I always take the the same way not to be skipping from with a meal to without

Hi. I take Synthroid. For years all I knew was to take med at the same time in the AM.Now I know about the prob w minerals and other meds. I take my Synthroid in the morning at least 1 hour before eating( leaving out milk, soy and vits.)I take Premarin and others at night. The best thing is to ask your dr or pharmacist for info. I am still finding out all kinds of stuff I wish I knew 20 years ago

Hi. I take .1 of Synthroid. My doctor specifically told me to make sure that I take it at least 1 hour prior to eating because if you don't, the meds will not be properly absorbed by your body which can in turn cause you to need more meds to compensate.

Annette,

You eat/drink soy? Soy supresses thyroid function, you should go to the information archieves to read up on how bad soy is, especially for someone who is hypo.

Thanks for the information. For the last 2 weeks, I have been getting up 1 hour early to take my meds. I got into trouble by eating too much soy, and taking the Armour with all my other vitamins supplements. I am feeling so much better now because my muscle cramps and pain have gone!! Also I am less tired and I am told, I am much more charming, again. So I guess it is worth the effort to get up and take the meds.
Thanks much.

My dr told me take Armour 30 minutes before breakfast. The bottle doesn't say anything on it. I read ppl on here saying take anywhere from 1 or 2 hrs before breakfast. Some of the Mercola webpages say take 1 hour before. I came across one of his articles yesterday that said take after you eat.

This has me really confused!

Hi. Leaving out soy. From what I have read 3 servings of soy a week is ok with Hypo-T. It does help w/ the hot flashes and night sweats. I just recently read about it's infuence on Synthroid. No one knew all this 26 years ago! I got updated books and read this BB and have learned alot and have passed it on to my friends.
