Post taking thyroid med without water

Hi,
I've been reading on here about how you take your medicine. I used to wake up in the morning, go downstairs, pop it in my mouth and eat right away. Did that for God only knows how many years. Until recently when my thyroid has gone all haywire. Still trying to get it back to a normal level. The way I take it now, is when I wake up in the morning to the alarm, I pop the pill in my mouth, swallow it, and go back to sleep for an hour. I don't think I'm doing myself any harm. I haven't had any problems yet. I just thought I'd get some of your opinions on it. Thanks for any input in advance.
Kathy

First of all you never eat right after taking your thyroid meds. They need to work in an empty stomach for at LEAST an hour in order to have proper absorption. It's also best to take them with water because then it is absorbed so much faster, plus drinking water is a good way to start the day....it expands the blood, stabilizes your blood pressure and opens your airways. I keep a bottle of water by my side 24/7.

I have heard others that take them and go back to sleep so its a good way to pass that time before eating, hehe But I would take them with water, I believe some will say in the directions to take with a full glass of water.
