Post Westroid & Nature-throid

Anyone have any experience with either of these who has also taken Armour? From what I read all 3 are dessicated porcine gland.

I have been on Armour for the last eight months. I have been feeling a lot on Armour than on Synthyroid.

Synthroid is synthetic. Armour, Westroid & Naturethroid are all made of pig gland. Maybe I didn't ask the question right. What I want to know who has taken Armour & also taken either Westroid or Naturethroid? I want to know if anyone notices any difference in way they feel.

Well I guess noone else is interested in the other natural thyroid replacements other than Armour. But I have to tell you I am excited that the doctor surprised me by being so willing to change me from Armour to Naturethroid. She had never heard of it, but I explained the difference. From what info I have gathered via internet and also calling up the manufacturer that difference is that Naturethroid is hypoallergenic. There is no cornstarch used for a binder. Not sure if this is true, but the company rep told me that around 1996 Armour changed the composition of pill by adding a polymer to make it more stable. She claims that the polymer makes it harder for some people to utilize the T3/T4. Whether its true or not I don't know, but I am willing to give it a go. I am allergic to corn, gives me nasal congestion. I am always congested because I am allergic to many other things in environment too. But by eliminating the cornstarch maybe that will help some.

Don't get me wrong I think Armour is excellent and is a Godsend for many people that just don't do well on synthetics or T4-only drugs. But for some folks, like me, who are allergic to many things Naturethroid offers something no other thyroid replacement does. Now getting the Naturethroid is another thing. My usual pharmacy can't get it in the 2gr. Pharmacist told me they are not allowed to order from anyone but the drug vendor their store is contracted with. So he refused to call the manufacturer, Western Research, who will ship directly. I should add the lab is in Phoenix, quite convenient, but NO! the stupid pharmacist refuses to order it. I was picking up my diabetes testing supply which ALONE amounts to $1,200 a year, thus I would consider myself a valuable customer and offered to take all my business elsewhere. He told me to "get yer stuff and get outta here!". I rushed to the new compounding pharmacy in town late Friday evening. They got on the phone right then and ordered the Naturethroid which is suppose to arrive Monday. BTW- I would have thought the stuff being hypoallergenic might be more expensive, but its actually cheaper than Armour. They are buying a bottle of 100 2gr pills for $18.50, will dispense a month's worth at a time and promised to keep it on hand just for me.

I have never tried it...interesting that it is cheaper than Armour.. I may have to try it just for that reason! Thanks for sharing.
