Yes, itching can be a symptom of a thyroid disorder, but can also be caused by other things. I am hyperthyroid right now and the doctor gave me a beta blocker to help with some of the symptoms including itching. I felt like I itched from the inside out and couldn't scratch hard enough to make it feel better. I can definitely sympathize with you. It's enough to drive you crazy Do you have any other typical thyroid symptoms? Hopefully you can get a diagnosis soon.

You really need to get tested ASAP. You have all the typical symtoms of hyperT. Grave's disease (the typical cause) is genetic. It is a simple blood test. At least if you are hyperT you can get something to help with the symptoms. I thought I was going crazy with the same symptoms you have. The doctor finally put me on a beta blocker which has been a life saver. I feel much better now in spite of the hyperT. You need to get tested because the symptoms will generally get worse as more thyroid hormone enters your bloodstream. Good luck!
