Lord I hope NOT! I only started Syntroid last week but I already suffer from acne. I am a 35 yof and it's worse now than when I was 20. I asked my GP if it could be related to Hashi's/HypoT and he doesn't "think" it is. Since the thyroid produces hormone I just assumed it could be related. Anyone else have this problem or know the answer? I don't want to be even worse than I am now. My five year old points to my face and asks me about it. AUGH!
Acne is definitly a symptom of a thyroid disorder. Your doctor isn't very informed.(But then again, how many are?) Perhaps you are having more acne because your dosage still needs to be adjusted. Another reason that your acne may be getting worse could be that you need a t3 & t4 med. Dr. Lowe on his site talks about about why you may still have symptoms when on t4. I strongly suggest that you look at what he has to say.
Thanks for bringing up this acne issues. I thought I was the only one having acne problems. I thought I was using a make up that I'm allergic to since my skin is very sensitive.
