Hi I am new here. I'm happy to have found this board. I had a near total thyroidectomy monday. I had graves disease. My goiter was 8 times the normal size. It grew in a very odd way my dr said. I grew up toward my right ear and down underneth the left side of my collar bone. It had also pushed my wind pipe off to the right side of my throat. she said it was stuck like glue to one of my vocal cords. I am in alot of pain and was wondering if anyone had experienced this weird growth before. My surgeon said it was one of the most complicated she had ever done before.

Read your post with interest as I am having surgery next week for a very large goiter which is substernal and also growing up and around resting near my spinal cord at the level of my tongue.
I'd be really interested to hear your experience. What kind of pain are you having? How big is your incision?
I don't have the same thyroid issue as you - goiter, surgery, and all - but I just wanted to say 'nice to meet you' and to wish you a speedy recovery!
