Post Thyroid and trying to get prego

Hi.
Has anyone gotten pregant after treatments?
When I had Hyper my endo said don't try to get prego until my treatments done. With the RAI and all. he said about 6 months I can try. Now I'm Hypo and taking meds for it. I have to go in next month to see how my levels are.
I was wondering once I get the ok from my endo to try to get prego, would it be easy to get pregant?
I had messed up cycles due to my thyroid but now my cycles are reg cuz of the birth control pills.
I have 1 daughter now and would love to try for another one.
I wonder how long this will all take?

Friend of mine had to have her entire thyroid removed due to a ganglion cyst that completely engulfed it. This was after her second child was born. When her kids were 15 and 16 she had an oops pregnancy, so don't worry. As long as you are getting enough thyroid meds, you can still get pregnant. If I remember correctly, it was the easiest pregnancy of the 3.

Hopefully this will give you some hope. I am hypo. My #'s are getting better, went from 11 to 4 TSH. Well we had a surprise pregnancy which I just found out about 2 weeks ago. I already have a 15 month old girl which we conceived through IVF. My hypo problem started after I had her in June 2002. I have many problems, not just with my thyroid, I have endometriosis, blocked tubes, etc. We thought it would be impossible to get pregnant on our own. I am a medical nightmare. I just cant believe it happened. the doctor upped my medication as fast as can be done so he will keep monitoring me every 6 weeks or so.

Emi001,
Dont ever give up hope as it can happen when you least expect as in my case. If it comes to the point where you may have to see a specialist (reproductive endocrinologst) they can really help you as far getting your hormone levels to where they should be in order to help you conceive. Im not sure if the regular endocrinologist also deals with this issue or not. With a Reproductive Endocrinologist they can take blood tests right at their office. I know with the regular endocrinologist I have to go to an outside lab to have tests done. There are also many tests they can do and it may be just a very simple problem that can be fixed very easily. They can also do certain things to regulate your cycle. Good luck and keep us posted

Hiya,

I just wanted to offer my personal experience. I am almost 25 weeks pregnant with my second baby.

I developed post srtum thyroiditis with very high TPO antibodies (at 4,000) after the birth of my 15 months old. I was hyper, now HYPO and will probably be permanently so considering my antibodies..they think I am a Hasimoto's.

Well, to cut a long story short I got pregnant when my TSh was around 2 and my T4 was middle of the range. I was monitored every 4 weeks up until 20 weeks and now will be monitored 6 weekly.

I got pregnant very easily this time (weren't trying!) which is different than my first baby, who we tried for a while for.

Best wishes, keep in contact with your dr, aim for the T4 (free) to be in the mid of the range and the free T3 also and I am sure that you will be pregnant soon.

Regards

Kerryhinch

Talking

Just incase you need another positive story to keep your hopes up I will share mine. I am a mom of 4 beautiful daughters. I was finally diagnosed with Hoshimoto's after #3. It was awfull to have a new baby and feel crappy all the time until they got my meds regulated.
When we decided to try for a boy (never going to happen ) I got pregnant realatively easy. I'm not good at being pregnant so not sure if it was easier or worse pregnancy compared to first three. Done side was that I had to get labs done every 4 weeks, bummer! I thought I was running out of blood. Up side being prego made my body work better, I only gained 5 pounds because my metabolism was on overdrive. Courtney weighed in at 8 pound 11 ounces and is now a 14 pound 4 month old. When all was said and done, I actually ended up 30 pounds below my pre-prego weight, i was so happy, unfortunatly still have lots to lose from #1-3

Thanks for your story : )
My ? is at first with thyroid problems Hyper or Hypo was your cycle all messed up? And after it was leveled, did your cycle come back to normal?
B4 I found out I had Hypo I was was getting heavy and loonnng periods. Then out of the blue it Stopped all together for months.
But like i said b4 now Im hypo and gettign my cycle reg now cuz of the birth control pills i'm taking.
I'm worried how it's going to be once I stop taking the pill.
My endo wanted to make sure I don't get pregnant while doing treatments so he asked me to go on the pill.
Other than getting my cylce on time I'm not really a big fan of the pill. I can't wait to stop taking them.
Once my Endo said ok to start trying to get prego do I have to get the ok from my OBGYN to stop the pills?
I don't know how pills work. Only took them 2 times in my life.
Or it's totally up to me when to stop taking them?
