Post Any Natural Therapies for Hypo?

Are there any natural therapies that can be used for hypothyroidism if someone is not being treated with medication?

Most people with hypothyroidism are selenium-deficient. When I added selenium to my daily diet, I went from hypo to hyper within a 2 month period. I had to reduce my meds, and we still haven't reached a happy-medium. I also had to quit the selenium for now, because I couldn't stand being hyper. I'll re-introduce it after we level out my thyroid again. This will be a home self-experiment...as I have given up on my MD.

ssMarilyn, thank you for your reply. I am going to try this. Did you take the recommended dose that is stated on the package?

I hope you can get your levels regulated soon. It is terrible not to be able to get the help we need.

Same thing happened to me. Started on selenium and coconut oil and am now hyper... my TSH went down to 0.015 in 2 months. At least its a good sign the ol' thyroid still works. I've cut down on meds & selenium till my body calms down. The hyper symptoms are not any more fun than the hypo.

The standard selenium treatment for thyroid is to start with 200mcg daily for 2 weeks, then drop down to 100mcg daily after that as a maintenance dose. Notice the measurement is micrograms not milligrams.
