Can thyroid problems cause muscle spasms?

If so, how do you know?

I am hypo -and have always had muscle aches and pains, but never spasms.

Are you having muscle spasms -and if so -where?
Are you taking a multi-vitamin with potassium in it? Your body may be needing potassium. Lack of this can cause muscle spasms, and painful ones at that.

Good luck to you.

Yes, thyroid problems, hypo can cause muscle pain and cramps. I just went through a bout and it was quite painful.

Thanks for your replies. I get the spasms in different areas, neck, shoulders, feet, hamstring, chest muscles, glute...Brief esotropia in one eye recently. I twitch in muscles before spasm but not all of the time and in areas other then the back of the neck. Been taking cal/mag, quinine water, and potassium salt sup and nutrician fortified, omega 3...You name it, I'm doing it. It gets to the point I'm unable to walk on the foot, move the neck etc. I tried valerian for two days. I think it may have calmed the severe hamstring twitching (that led to spasm anyway). I have a history of hyper but have combo symptoms of hyper and hypo and am at a loss.
