Question Taking Armour...once or twice a day?

Hi all,
I'm going to ask to be switched from Synthroid to Armour and it looks like I will need 60 mg of Armour (I'm on .088 mg of synthroid).
What I'm wondering is do I need to ask for 30 mg tablets and take them twice a day?
Those of you on this board on you take one tablet only in the morning and feel fine? or do you all need to divide the dose.
I read in another post that Armour only lasts about 8 to 10 hours in your system.

Would like to hear from evryone who is doing well on Armour.
Thanks much.
hypo, Synthroid 75 mcg, estrace 1mg, prometrium 100mg, celexa 20mg, adrenal support (also have primary ovarian failure - extremely rare condition)

Re: Taking Armour...once or twice a day?

I take my Armour only once, in the morning an hour before I eat. I have never experienced the p.m. 'crash' that some do. Plus, it would be inconvenient to time taking a second pill around my way of eating, and it would be another thing I don't want to have to remember. Once a day works fine for me.

However, until you determine whether you might need to split the dose, you could ask for your first script in 30 mg tablets. I recommend you try the 'once a day' method at the start, just for convenience's sake. If it works out for you, it's simpler that way.

Re: Taking Armour...once or twice a day?

Waaaaa, I wish I never experienced the "crash", but I do, sigh. For the first few days of taking my Armour in the morning I was fine, but after a few days I started experiencing "the crash" in the afternoons. My Endo wouldn't even listen to me when I tried to ask him about that, grrrrrrr.
Hopefully you will only have to take it once a day! Good luck and let us know how you do.

It's not the "Armour" that only lasts 8-10's the T3 in the Armour.
I take mine twice a day and feel much better doing it. I had those afternoon crashes myself........yuck!

Re: Taking Armour...once or twice a day?

I take it once a day, it works great for me. I have been feeling a little tired recently but I think it is allergies, the allergy season is almost over and hopefully I will feel great again. I got tested on Sat. so we'll see what the numbers are on Wednesday.
