Do kelp supplements work?

I have been hypo for 10 years. I take 112mcg Levoxyl. Just recently had a baby and still have 20lbs to lose. I read somewhere that kelp supplements can help an underactive thyroid and can also aid in weight loss.

Does anyone have any experience in taking kelp. And did you lose any weight? And is it safe to take while taking Levoxyl? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
