Hi,
I had my 2nd RAI treatment a couple weeks ago due to thyroid cancer. I've had floaters for as long as I can remember, but they seem to have gotten a lot worse since my treatment. I notice them the most when I'm driving in sunlight...these little white jagged lines and dots are everywhere. Other than the floaters, my vision is fine. Could this have something to do with the RAI or could being off my meds have caused this?
Thanks for any replys

i've had floaters for years too, but in the last year, they've increased quite a bit and there's one that is quite big and keeps coming back no matter where i look or what i do -- like a small grey cloud in my lower left eye and i notice them most when i'm reading, and sometimes a wave of grey lines ...
i've been DX'd hypO for about a year and a half, and i know that floaters are a symptom ... sometimes they're really annoying tho', and i know what you mean...
i also have a furious symphony of tinnitis in my ears, to the point where, in the last six months, my hearing has been affected ...
ah the joys,
jb
~ to answer your question, i've not had RAI so can't know, but if you've been hypO, they are a symptom...

Reason: duh!
Hi Hilery,
I am so sorry that you had to go through this! I can totally relate, because that is exactly where I was at this point a year ago! It was terrible.
All the side effects were worse with the second round, but eventually, it all got better. I had a clean scan 6 months ago, and I feel better now that I have in a long, long time. I will be having blood tests next week. Recently, I went for an eye exam. The doc recommended that I have my eyes dilated and checked. Everything was okay. She said it is a good idea for cancer and thyroid patients to have this done once a year. I sure didn’t know that. Maybe you should schedule an appointment, but not until your meds are regulated.
Your doctor does have ideas that are somewhat contrary to what I have read (and heard at the Thyroid Cancer Survivors Association conferrence), but I think there is far from a perfect consensus on treating thyroid cancer, so I am not too surprised. Trust your judgment, but due try to err on the side of caution! Take care!
