need explanation of scores

I haven't been feeling myself for about 3 years. I have been tired, confused, can't make easy decisions, low moods, NO sex drive, etc. I have been on Zoloft 100mg for the last 2 years. That has helped. I finally went to a new Dr., she did all kinds of testing.
My results came back and 60mg of Armour was prescibed. I didn't have a follow up, just the'm wondering where I fall compared to the norm. (if there is such a thing)
I'm 40, 3 kids 17,14,9....if that matters
PPO >10
TSH 1.570
T4-3 0.89
Also, is anyone taking Armour and an antidepressant?
PS. After 2 weeks on the Armour, I can tell a HUGE differnce in engery

Re: need explanation of scores

I'm surprised the Zoloft helped. Low thyroid causes those same symptoms too; and usually, if the missing thyroid hormones are not replaced, antidepressants won't work. If I were you, I'd try weaning off the Zoloft to see if the Armour takes over for it.

Your new doctor is A#1 for doing the right testing and prescribing what many of us consider to be the best med for hypoT. But it seems quite odd and maybe even unprofessional not to have scheduled a followup to see if the dose is right for you. It usually takes a minimum of 6 months of adjustments to get it right; most take up to a year. Don't hesitate to return for re-evaluation if all your symptoms don't resolve within about 3 months.

Whenever you include test results in your post, always include the lab's normal range. We can't usually tell much without the range, but in your case, the - is it actually TPO? - is probably positive... again... can't tell without the range. If it is positive, you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and your thyroid gland is doomed to eventual complete failure.

Re: need explanation of scores

thanks so much. I didn't realize the lab had a 'normal range' I thought the normal range was universal....thanks for clearing that up!!!! I do have a follow up in 8 weeks.....
