I have been reading this thread and also looking at some websites about parathyroid, and I am wondering about some symptoms I have been experiencing. I have a physical with a new doc coming up in a few weeks and I was hoping someone could give me some suggestions as far as what to ask and relate wrt to these symptoms:

fatigue
shortened attention span / difficulty concentrating
night sweating
kidney stones
aching in back, neck, joints
mild sore throat
head feels "fuzzy" all the time
hair falling out in shower
lack of appetite
ear infection
heartburn

Any thoughts would be very much appreciated, thanks!!!

If you are going to be tested for your parathyroids, you usually need to fast before the blood tests. They will test your calcium level and the level of PTH (parathyroid hormone) that is in your blood. I know that my doctor described the parathyroid symptoms as "moans, groans, stones and psychic overtones." Basically meaning the stomach problems, kidney stones, aching joints, headaches and a general "fuzzy" feeling in your brain... like a lack of concentration. There is a lot of good info out there about the parathyroids. Good luck on finding out what is going on with you.

Thanks for the reply. I have had my calcium checked through 24 hour urine output because of the kidney stones and it was normal, but not with bloodwork in about a year. Hopefully I will be able to find out what is going on soon!
