help with radiation question
A very good friend of mine was just this year dx'd hyper and had rai treatment in July. Her palpitations have stopped, but now she is sweating up a storm: literally draining off her face. Help! She wants to know if this is normal, or now maybe since radiation something else is going on. What would cause her to sweat so much???

The radiation damages the thyroid cells and as they die the "dump" their stores of thyroid hormone into the blood stream. This "dumping" can make the person MORE hyperthyroid while it is happening. This *could* be what is happening to her.

After the dumping she will most likely turn HYPOthyroid and need replacement hormone.
