Exclamation This might be VERY hard to believe...but we need your help!

Hello All,

Back in 1996 my girlfriend was married to a doctor for whom she work for and after dosage adjustments and reacting to the symptoms and not the lab work, they came to the conclusion that she suffered from Hypothyroidism. The really strange part from what I am been learning is the amount she needs to take everyday in order to stop the symptoms. The amount she has been taking successfully for the past several years has been 4000mcg daily = .200 of Levoxyl X20. Back in April this now divorced doctor pasted away and the doctor she was seeing to get the prescription filled suddenly decided she wasn't 'comfortable' prescribing that dose. Since then life has been a living hell in trying to find anyone who will not treat her , or us, like we are crazy.

We contacting this Dr. Lowe in CO. who wants her to go out there to study her because of how strange this case is, but wants to charge her top dollar for a week long stay (or so it seems.) I have FRANTICALLY been searching the net trying to find an OTC solution she can take so she can at least 'get by' until we figure out what our next move it. I have also received an email from a Dr. Weiss in Chicago I contacted who said he could get her in to see her in 2 weeks. The problem is we are out of meds RIGHT NOW! If there is any advise, suggestions, or anyone we could see in the greater St. Louis area...or anywhere else for that matter...who will treat her properly, please, PLEASE contact us.

I can be [ removed ] Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you.

Is it possible to get natural glandular thyroid without prescription?
I don't think anyone should ever start taking dosages into their own hands though because it can be REALLY DANGEROUS but maybe you can find a Dr who will over see what you are doing without having to prescribe.....just a thought. I know supplements like Kelp, Selenium and L-tyrosine all help the thyroid function and ca provide the tyhroid with what it is not making itself but again over taking supplements can be very dangerous too so get advise there as well, At least this supplements may provide a bridging gap as iodine (found in kelp) is fundamental to the thyroid gland, Selenium in the conversion process, and I can't remenber what the L-tyrosine is for I think that it what your thyroid produces along with the iodine but don't quote me on that. One more thought, maybe she doesn't need to be on that high but just needs help with converting T4 into T3.......I am clueless when it comes to truly understanding thyroid at this point (learning) but maybe she has a problem with the conversion so by putting so much of T4 in it covers that.
Midwest knows more about all that than me

She seems to have severe hormone resistence... wow. That's rare.
Have you contacted Dr. Richard Shames? He does telephone consults.
Dr. Christian Wessling in Webster Groves, MO is an open-minded homeopathic MD who might be willing to help. It takes a while to get an appt, though.

I have seen Dr. sultan too. He is trying to help me. He is good but doesn't take many types of insurances and that is why I made an appointment with Dr. wessling. How long have you been seeing Dr. Sultan?

Re: This might be VERY hard to believe...but we need your help!

Thank-you all for your advise. This other doctor we had plans to see today already is pointing her in the direction of some specialists while putting her on a bunch of blood pressure meds and an anti-anxiety med which will make her even more tired. This doctor is setting up a visit for early next week but if we don't like what the specialists say, we will call Dr. Sultan. Has anyone else been put on a bunch of blood pressure meds also while trying to get 'real' help??? Thanks again...
-Mark
