Finding a Naturopath

Does anyone have suggestings for finding a naturopath or a homeopathic doctor? The second endo that I went to seemed to be very understanding and I was impressed that he ordered the FT3, FT4 and TSH after my first visit (everything I have heard here tells me that this is what he should have ordered). I like him a lot and we'll see how it goes from here. However, I am not completely convinced that the diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and the meds that I am taking are going to alleviate the main symptoms I am having: internal tremors all over my body that make me feel like all my movements are shaky and I also have muscle pain and sensation of weakness in my left arm (fine motor skills are difficult). I want to be prepared for an alternative doctor who might be able to help me figure out what's wrong in case it's not really my thyroid, but I haven't been able to find good info on finding a holistic doctor.

Re: Finding a Naturopath

I found my homeopathic MD by accident. He was listed under general practitioners in my insurance provider book. I only found out he was a HP after I'd made the appt.

You might google for the professional organizations for each speciality. Most have a locator feature that you can use... although the homeopathic one doesn't list many practitioners... not even mine. I think they have to ask to be included on the lists.

You could also "let your fingers do the walking"... Call different offices and simply ask if they subscribe to a particular philosophy. It would take time, but should work.

Oh... I just thought... I wonder if health food stores would have such information? They sell the products that NPs and HPs recommend, so they might know. Asking them would be worth the try.

Thanks for the good info. Have tried looking in the yellow pages, but can't seem to find listings specifically for homeopathic doctors. I think I have tried looking on the internet, but not wholeheartedly so I will go back and try again.

have you tried to be more specific, ie, naturopath (my ND treats homeopathically) or osteopathy? without a list in the phone book, your only choice is the i'net, i guess ... the best allopathic doctor i had was a GP who then trained in eastern medicine and used acupuncture with great effect on me (now he's out of the business and has a retreat in the local hills, to which i wish i could afford to go )...
