Unhappy Uptake test- RAI

Hey, just wondering if anyone out there took the uptake test or even RAI and felt terrible??

I just took the uptake test and with 24hours my neck swelled up, was very sore...felt like my neck was gonna pop. My symptoms too seemed a bit more exxagerated.

Just wondering if anyone else felt like that? I haven't taken the RAI...yet. Still not sure what I am going to do.

And...K9 if you see this I have a question. I saw in someone elses post you wrote something about struma ovarii ? Does that appear to be 1 cyst on an ovary for hyper people?

Thanks
APril

Re: Uptake test- RAI

Hi April, I believe so, but I'm not that knowledgable about struma ovarii. I basically only know that it can cause hyperthyroidism. Here is a site with some more info on it. http://www.emedicine.com/med/topic2191.htm

Re: Uptake test- RAI

I had the uptake test but didn't experience anything that you describe. My thyroid started out enlarged and uncomfortable, though, so maybe I just didn't notice... I hope you feel better soon!

Re: Uptake test- RAI

I felt especially bad after RAI 131 and fatigued after RAI123. It improves in a few days though! I do not understand why they tell us we won't get sick, then add if you throw up call them back. I guess that is for appropriate disposal of material. I did not vomit, but felt like I had the flu.

Re: Uptake test- RAI

I just wanted to add that I had the I 131 and it made me a little sick at my stomach about five hours after I took it. The next day I felt better.
