Anyone diagnosed with only a blood test?

I was diagnosed hypo 8 weeks ago at a routine physical. I then went back at 6 weeks for a "full thyroid panel". All I heard back was that I was doing fine and to keep taking the same does of levoxyl.

In the meantime, I have noticed that if I turn my head sideways to talk or look at something I have a sudden urge to cough and my throat feels irritated and hoarse. I'm sure it must be from my thyroid.

My question is has everyone here had an ultrasound or xray or is there anyone else here who has only had blood tests? I am wondering if I should go back and demand an xray. My doctor already thinks I am a hypochondric....

Re: Anyone diagnosed with only a blood test?

I can tell you that most people I know who are on thyroid meds never had any symptoms... they were diagnosed on the basis of blood tests only. No u/s.

i was DX'd with only a blood test, prescribed synthroid and cytomel, and only later, on my first visit to the endo, was my thyroid palpated ... it's a common symptom, hoarseness, and you could read up on the myriad of symptoms in the Sticky: info archive near the top of this board (did i say i was hoarse? )
