New here, ? re. veg diet and TD

Hi! My husband has TD. He has struggled w/ weight issues just as a lot of you have. At a recent visit, his endo. told him that soy is not good.(for someone who has hypo.) We used to be vegetarians, but have gone to low-carb eating, which includes meat. We would like to go back to vegetarianism, but most of the meat analogs(veggie burgers, etc.) have soy in them. Is anyone out here a vegetarian who also has hypothyroidism? Do you eat soy products and have you had problems w/ this? Thanks in advance- there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people here!

I also read:
Soy protein can/will interfere with the absorption of the meds so wait at least 2 hours after taking the medicine in the morning before having any soy protein products, if you must.

A safe and good source of protein would be lentil soup.

I avoid soy as much as possible. I believe it is what put me over the edge with my thyroid. Now I use beans for my protein. There are so many different kinds of beans and different ways to prepare them that I really don't get bored. I have heard that miso is ok and I do eat miso soup from time to time but that is it.
