Re: Question for midwest1,dea, k9mom or any one else,

Mine still stayed around 96.5 even when I was on 2 grains of Armour. It has taken a combination of 1.5 grains Armour and 50 mcg Synthroid to get my temp back to 98. I still crash in the afternoon, but I feel better than I have in more than a decade.

That's a very good question. I haven't taken my basal temp since I've been on Armour. I kept a record of it several times before I was diagnosed, and it averaged 96.4. But I don't know what it is now. I'll make another log during the upcoming week just to see if it has come up. I don't feel cold all the time anymore, so I just assumed it has. But now you've got me curious about it.

What time of the day are you suppose to take your basal temperature?

You take your BBT first thing in the morning before you get out of bed. You're supposed to take it for 10 minutes with a thermometer designed for this, although I typically use a regular one.

I use a digital thermometer since my doctor said this was fine. Much quicker, especially since there's no way my bladder would be able to wait 10 minutes first thing in the morning!

*lol* I used to use one of those, too. I'd fall asleep and wake up and the dratted thing would have turned off - it was set to do so after 9 minutes but my snooze button on the alarm clock was 10 minutes !

How much Armour are you taking and how long have you been taking it? Are you splitting the dose, taking half in the moring and half in the afternoon? That can make a diffference in how you feel.

Have you tried splitting your dose? Taking half in the morning and half in the afternoon can REALLY make a difference in the afternoon slump.

Re: Question for midwest1,dea, k9mom or any one else,

My naturopath has me take my BBT also. She says it's important that I have been in bed for at least 3 hours (this has been difficult as I am one of those with an insomnia symptom with hypo and have often been wide awake a few hours after going to bed at night and up for a couple of hours out of restlessness and insomnia ). She also said to stay in bed as still aspossible and put the thermometer under my arm and keep it there for 10 mins. She too recommended the snooze button.
