How can I get help?

I just have a question that hopefully someone can answer. When I went to my yearly gyn exam I requested a thryoid test be done since I've been extremely tired and my hair is thinning terribly!! She did a tsh and it came back 4.42 on 4.80 scale. She said that was definitely normal and acted like I was a hypochondriac or something. (This was over a year ago.) My primary doctor also told me that was in the normal range and won't refer me to an endocrinologist. I am feeling really tired and depressed....I don't know what to do! Any advice out there? Thanks!

Re: How can I get help?

Take a look at the following information from the Amer. Acad. of Clinical Endocrinologists. It tells how the current lab ranges for TSH are far too broad, and that a TSH above 2.5 with symptoms is worthy of a trial of thyroid medication.
Your TSH is about where mine was when an endo diagnosed me with Hashimoto's disease.
Try printing the AACE information and taking it to your GP. It probably won't convince him, if his ego and stubbornness are like most MDs, but it's worth a shot. Hope it works for you.
