Dosage increase

Last Friday I called my doctor to request once again an increase in my Armour thyroid. I have been on 30mg for about 2 1/2 months. This
morning he call and agreed to increase my Armour to 60mg. Now I want to do this gradually. Any suggestions would help. I don't want to start taking 60mg right away. Thanks all for any suggestions

Re: Dosage increase

How much is one of the most difficult questions. I've been doing this for 5 years and I swear I don't know how much to this day. But I have narrowed it down. I know 180 is the max Armour. I know 150 is the minimum Armour. For me. Unfortunately, both show up within normal ranges on my tests.

But they sure don't feel normal after a while! And the most difficult part is that the symptoms are circular, meaning crossover symptoms when slightly high or slightly low.

Once you get to a place where you feel good, start to monitor closely-- because you are close. If you up it and feel good then begin to feel bad you probably passed your ideal level. If you never get to feeling good you probably aren't there yet.

I'm thinking that a variation 1/8 grain can make a difference, an amount so small they don't even make a pill for it.

Re: Dosage increase

What I did today was add 7.5mg to my 30mg. I just cut my 30mg of Armour into 4ths. I think I will do this for about 3 weeks and then add in another 7.5mg to make 45mgs total. Take that for awhile and then add 7.5mg until I get to 60mgs. I want to do it slowly so maybe this is a good way. I hope so. I want the Armour to work for me.

Re: Dosage increase

Sounds smart. I think 7.5 is a good incremental amount. Or do 14 and if you feel good and then start to feel bad after a couple of days, cut back to 7.5.

I think you should feel a difference within a couple of days, especially when on Armour.
