vivid dreams

Did anyone start having vivid dreams when they went on thyroid meds? I have taken thyroid in the past but after losing weight and going off thyroid for 6 months all my tests were normal. After about 2 years I was retested and it showed I should be on it. It was that week that the dreams started. I have cut it in half but still having very vivid dreams that sometimes wear me out. May have to cut in half again.

Re: vivid dreams

Yes, I did - I posted it a while ago and got some responses from others that had as well. You can search - vivid dreams - weird, huh. I started having very vivid dreams when I started on Synthroid. They tapered off a bit but I've noticed lately that I'm having them more frequently. My dose hasn't been increased lately so I don't know what is causing them. They are very vivid and they do wear you out. I can also remember more of them than I usually remember an average dream. It feels like its real. Hmmm. I don't know what causes it but it is nice to know that I'm not imagining things.

If you find out anything - let us know.

Hang in there,
Carol

Re: vivid dreams

Yes, I have very vivid dreams. When I wake up, I wonder if what I dreamt really happened. Sometimes they are very scary too. I usually wake up from those ones.

Re: vivid dreams

I've had the same thing happen recently. I've recently found a "normal" dosage for me & all of a sudden started having vivid - freaky dreams. I was hoping that it was just coincidence.

Re: vivid dreams

wow, thanks, guys. My Dr. thinks I am a nut case when i mentioned it and I could find nothing in the literature on thyroid meds. I did try to google vivid dreams and could not find anything except interpretation. Am going to ask for a lower dose on refill as I am already cutting mine in half. I just knew it had to be that. Thanks so much. wonder how we can find out more about this. How often are you retested for thyroid?

I had a dream the other night that 10 funnel tornadoes were headed my way. I woke up just about in tears I was so scared. I thought it was me having weird dreams from stuff I ate.

Re: vivid dreams

My first vivid dream in May the day after I started my Thyroid I woke up in tears. I don't remember what it was now but I sure remember waking up exhausted and with tears. No much fun. Do you get funnel clouds where you live? that would be scary1

Re: vivid dreams

I had this when I was taking the meds at night - so far morning and afternoon doses don't seem to affect me. I felt that the T3 'rush' from the natural thyroid was coming out in dreams if I fell asleep before I stored it all. Don't know if that has any basis in reality!

Re: vivid dreams

thyroid should never be taken at night I was told years ago and do not take with grapefruit juice as with many meds.
