Does anyone know what telogen effluvium is?

It is the severe shedding of hair. It can be caused from hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, emotional stress, surgery etc.

I just found it while searching.

I had never heard of it. Just a fancy word for hair shedding.

Yes, I've heard of it in relation to great stress on the body. People who are dieting and have lost a lot of body fat often suffer from this. The important thing to remember is that it is temporary in most cases (if not all) and once the stress is alleviated the hair does grow back.

Yes you are right about that. When the symptoms are gone then the hair grows back and stops shedding.

Re: Does anyone know what telogen effluvium is?

This may be a little off topic. A doctor that lives on my block had informed me that egg yok and mayo is good for the hair. -Protein. It strengthens the hair. Place both on your head. Let it stay there for 45 minutes and then wash it out. It seems to work. I've used it for the past 3 weeks-3x's a week. It makes the hair healthier. Also a pharmacist had informed me that Garlic shampoo will stop excessive hair loss. I have heard this from other people too. I use the unscented brand of it. Its good.
I have hair loss and I am trying to prevent it from getting worse. Hope this helps.

I think I would like to try that egg yolk and mayo. I wonder if you can use it on dyed hair. I wouldn't want my brown hair to turn red.

Does it make your hair thicker and shinier?

Re: Does anyone know what telogen effluvium is?

It def. makes the hair shinier and more healthier looking. It gives volume and body to your hair. I heard from someone else that it's suppose to regrow the hair. I don't know how true that is. A doctor and a pharmacist that I know have been doing this for a long time along with some other people that I know. I also heard that egg yolk and honey regrows the hair. I don't know how true this is.
I don't dye my hair, so I really don't know if the egg would change the color of your hair. All I know is that it is good for the hair.
